Convert CSV to JSON without losing identifiers

Convert a spreadsheet-style CSV export while preserving leading zeros and other identifier strings.

CSV does not define cell types

A value such as 001234 could be a postal code or identifier rather than the number 1,234. Automatic type guessing can silently change it.

Check a leading-zero example

Suppose a CSV header is product_id,postal_code,amount and its row is 00042,02108,19.50. This converter returns product_id as "00042", postal_code as "02108", and amount as "19.50". The quoted JSON strings preserve the original text. Convert amount to a number later only if your application rules confirm it is a numeric value.

Choose object rows

When the first row contains headers, the converter produces objects. For example, name, email followed by Ada,ada@example.test becomes an object with name and email fields.

Keep ambiguous values as text

The CSV to JSON Converter deliberately keeps every cell as a string. Convert only fields whose types you understand in the application that consumes the JSON.

Quoted fields

Quotes keep commas and line breaks inside one cell. A quote inside a quoted cell is escaped as two quotes. Blank rows are ignored; duplicate headers are made unique, while blank headers receive a generated column name. The converter also accepts tab- or semicolon-separated input when its first row makes that delimiter clear.

Steps

Paste a CSV export, leave First row is headers selected if the first row names columns, convert, then inspect before copying or downloading. Conversion runs locally and does not upload the spreadsheet.
