Image Metadata Remover — EXIF & GPS Cleaner
Create a re-encoded copy of a JPG, PNG, or WebP photo in this browser. Re-encoding through the canvas removes common embedded EXIF, GPS, and camera metadata from supported images; the original file is not uploaded.
Choose a photo to clean
Maximum 15 MB and 20 megapixels. The browser redraws and re-encodes the image on this device before you download the cleaned copy.
This re-encoding removes common embedded EXIF, GPS, and camera metadata from supported images. It may change image pixels, color handling, or compression. It is not a forensic guarantee; do not use it where certified sanitization is required. Re-encoding a PNG preserves image transparency but may not preserve every original color profile or ancillary chunk.
What this tool helps with
Photos may contain embedded capture details such as camera information or location coordinates. Removing common metadata before sharing can reduce accidental disclosure, but it does not hide details visible in the image itself.
How to use it
- Choose a JPG, PNG, or WebP image up to 15 MB and 20 megapixels.
- Wait for the locally re-encoded preview and compare its dimensions and file size.
- Download the cleaned copy, then inspect the visible image before sharing.
Requirements
A modern browser with JavaScript, image decoding, Canvas, and Blob export support. Only static JPG, PNG, and WebP files are accepted.
Limits and privacy
The browser redraws and re-encodes pixels; it does not inspect metadata fields or verify every chunk was removed. Re-encoding may change pixels, compression, color profiles, or file size. This is not forensic sanitization. Animated images, HEIC, and other formats are not supported. Do not use it where certified removal is required. Inputs are processed locally in this browser. The site does not provide an upload endpoint for this tool.
Frequently asked questions
Does this remove GPS coordinates from my photo?
Canvas re-encoding removes common embedded metadata, which can include EXIF GPS coordinates, from supported files. This tool does not inspect or certify the resulting metadata; use a dedicated verifier if that assurance matters.
Is my image uploaded?
No. The selected image is decoded and re-encoded by your browser. JuzhenWork does not provide an image upload endpoint for this tool.
Will the cleaned image look exactly the same?
Not necessarily. JPG and WebP are re-encoded and may lose some image detail. PNG preserves transparency, but the browser may not preserve every original color profile or ancillary chunk. Compare the result before sharing.
Does it remove information visible in the image?
No. Faces, signs, screens, addresses, and other visible details remain. Crop or edit visible content separately if needed.
